Bittersweet homecoming

That's the word Dianne used when I told her about our Cody.

It is so good to be home, but we arrived Thursday night to a very ill little dog. At not-quite-fourteen, Cody's little body has decided to give out and the doctor can't fix him. Renal failure.

We took him to the vet yesterday and learned how to give him subcutaneous fluids and that perked him up. He is happy at home with us and we will spend as much time as we can loving and caring for him.

  1. Oh, I am so, so sorry. The amount of love our pets give us is so proportianly larger than the time we have to spend with them.
Cody has had a wonderful life with a loving family. I hope his time left with you goes as well.

  2. You have my sympathies. It is so hard to realize that our four-legged family members don't live as long as we do. You are giving him the best care possible, and he has had a loving family for all his years. Tearing up here.

Our Midnight has several ailments of senior cats, and we are not planning any joint trips during her remaining days, since she takes so many meds, too difficult for a cat sitter to manage.

  3. This is the hardest part when you have a beloved pet --- the time when he has to go away from you forever. I hope that the remaining time you and Cody have each other is precious to both of you and when he finally slips away, his passing is peaceful and filled with love.

  4. Oh, I'm so sorry about Cody! Gosh, it is so hard when we realize they have reached a point when all we can do is love them like crazy and make them as comfortable as possible. They give us so much joy and love while they're with us! I know you'll cherish the time you have left with him.
